Is the price of Beauty in Australia coming down?

27 Aug

A little while ago I wrote about Illamasqua’s “Fight for a fair beauty price”  which is the brand’s campaign to stop the disproportionally high prices Australian consumers pay for their beauty products in comparison to the rest of the world. This push is definetely justified, however this year alone a number of brands have reduced their prices to bring them in line (almost) with their international counterparts.

The latest to do this was Lancome – their “Love Lancome, Love our new prices” campaign see’s some of their best selling items reduced permanently by up to 30%. Currently these reductions are only on their Genifique, Renergie & Visionnaire products.

My pick would be the Genifique Serum 30ml – Down from $115 to $80.

Estee Lauder also recently reduced their prices on some of their foundations – all doublewear products were $68 will now be $50. The Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator has also been reduced from $105 to $80 (30ml)

Earlier this year, Mecca Cosmetica reduced a number of their brands Australian prices, most notably NARS.

Their blushes were reduced by 27% from $62 to $45. Sheer blow foundation was reduced from $99 to $68, with their illuminators, multiples, bronzers and eyeshadow duos also being reduced in price.

Other Mecca Cosmetica brands that saw reductions this year include Stila – with lip glazes reduced from $48 to $36 as well as their smudge pots which are now $32 instead of $43. Kevyn Aucoin Mascara (was $52 now $40), Perricone MD, By Terry, Nude and Dr Dennih Gross Skincare were also reduced.

Which brands do you want to see reduce their prices? I’m excited about Estee Lauder & Lancome getting on board – hoping this is a sign that we will see many more price reductions in the future!

Lust Have It! February

8 Feb

Lust Have It! Took all of January off (jealous) so there was a bit of anticipation leading up to the January box, and while they did announce one product the rest was a complete surprise for me this time! So was the wait worth it…?

This is what was in the box:

Lancome Juicy Tubes

Who doesn’t love Juicy Tubes? A little expensive but they really are one of the longest lasting lipglosses out there. I was excited to hear that these would be in the boxes as it was the only product they announced. Perfect for valentines day!

RRP $46.00 for 15g  but Big W has a 3 pack of  15g Juicy tubes for $45! I didn’t even know they sold Lancome – have a look here

Davroe Tame Lemongrass Detangler

Don’t Detanglers just bring you back to your childhood? I don’t know how my hair was always so knotted up when I was a child.. Anyways this is certainly an adult version with a lovely lemongrass scent. Davroe is a new brand to me but I like this product so might have to have a look at some of their other offerings

RRP 21.50 for 315ml

Sasy n Savy Rose Lavender Hand n Nail Repair Creme

Everything in this box smells soo good and this is no exception! This is a nice moisturiser, again from a brand I haven’t tried before so look forward to testing it out!

RRP $25 for 100ml

Lush Sugar Scrub

Another yummy product, I’m excited to see that Lush has been included again in the LHI box as they had the honey I washed the kids soap a while ago which was also fantastic. Can’t wait to use this one and smells deliciouss

RRP 6.50 100g

Taut Collagen infusion mask

Taut products have been included in the box before, the first one I received I got some form of collagen drink.. I actually didn’t drink it because it freaked me out a little bit (is that weird..) but I have heard some good things about this mask and I can’t wait to put it on and look like an alien for a little while

RRP 44.95 pk/5

Did you love this months LHI box? Worth the wait?

camilla and marc x lancome

4 Dec

In one of my first posts I mentioned the camilla and marc x Lancome set, and today I bought it!

I was tossing up between buying this, and the full sized Genifique, however this had a 7ml bottle in it & other goodies so I decided to get this one. I think it will be a very useful little kit.

It includes the travel sized Colour design eyeshadow pallette. Now I have a confession to make, I am slightly scared of eyeshadow. I don’t know how I do it but I always seem to make myself look like part Zombie or like I have a fading black eye. Now, it does takes a hugely unskilled person to achieve such a magnificant failure every time I apply but I’m just good like that. However I’m trying harder and I think these browns will be good!

Ahh Genifique. It is impossible to tell you how much I love this stuff. If you haven’t tried it yet, go down to a counter and get yourself a little sample because it truly is amazing.

Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara. I’ve read some mixed reviews about this, some swear by it and others find it transfers quite easily so am looking forward to giving it a try and I will let you know how that goes!

Color Design Love It Lipstick. Not really a colour I’d normally wear however I should maybe put down the coral once in a while and try something different. It’s not too intense a colour and does feel very moisturising so it could be another good everyday lippie.

The pack also comes with a two piece brush set. You can never have too many brushes!

This pack retails at $79 which is less than what it would cost you to buy the Mascara & Lipstick from the counter so not a bad deal! And as if I didn’t spoilt myself enough with the lancome goodies, I picked up a few of my favourite magazines….

New favourite.. Lancome’s Genifique Youth Activator

13 Nov

I am not a huge serum user, and to be honest i’ve tried a few including SKII’s offerings and really not found a huge amount of difference.

However I am always willing to give new products a go so when I received a sample of Lancome’s Genifique Youth Activator in the October Lust Have It box I decided to give it a try!

The box came with 2x5ml samples and i have just finished the first 5mls and have already noticed a fantastic result.

Lancome says the product is

“Our first skincare that boosts the activity of genes and stimulates the production of youth proteins. A true skincare innovation with 7 worldwide patents pending, Génifique is the foundation of every woman’s skincare at any age or for any skin concern.”

I have noticed my skin is smoother, clearer and more radiant and was most definitely surprised by this result being a little bit of a sceptic! I have never had a serum made such a difference, and even though i am 22 and don’t have problems (yet) with ageing skin it has definitely made it appear a bit more youthful and fresh. I will be including this in my daily routine from now on!

It is a little pricey and they recommend you use morning & night, however i am just applying it before i go to bed and still noticing the results.

RRP $115 30ml or $165 50ml , available at department stores or online at Adore Beauty
