Favourite new discovery.. Avado Gel Exfoliant

28 May

I have the luxury of trying so many fantastic products through the sample boxes I receive, and also through my job! While this is great, I tend to constantly change products in hope of finding something really great.

Unfortunately, some of these exceptional products are also quite pricey to the point that I can’t really justify the purchase so when a product comes around that seems to beat out expensive alternatives with better results – it’s pretty exciting!

I really truly love this product, I have previously used Pelactiv exfoliants which are very grainy and not suited for everyday use and also Clean n Clear blackhead exfoliator which is a daily product like Avado.

I’ve read a few mixed reviews of this product, I suppose it is mostly attributed to its scent – when I first used it the scent reminded me of that orange preventative lice shampoo that I remember quite vividly from my childhood. But scent aside there is nothing else you can fault about this product.

The RRP is just $12.99 for 100ml, the Pelactiv one I used to use – which a lot of people that don’t suffer much with skin dryness rave about was $47 for 150ml.

If you have dry skin, I really do encourage you to try this, it contains essential oils including aloe vera, neroli and lemon. It is non abraisive with it’s gel texture but still does enough to give the skin that squeaky clean feeling after exfoliation.

Have you found your perfect exfoliant? Or tried the Avado one? Let me know in the comments!

Avado products can be bought from Priceline Pharmacies, as well as healthfood stores and selected supermarkets.

ASOS Love

20 May

ASOS makes online shopping a little bit too easy sometimes. With it’s fantastic pieces and reasonable prices all my purchases seem to be made very late at night.. I think i feel less guilt for buying new clothes when I’m half asleep.

But if you thought ASOS couldn’t get any better.. they just launched a new line – ASOS Salon which is a vintage inspired collection with higher quality and a higher pricepoint than the main ASOS lines, but is SO cute.

So which one should I buy first..?

But seeing as it’s getting cold my latest ASOS purchases haven’t been quite so cute and more focussed on keeping warm! The last few things I’ve bought..

This coat is one of the warmest i’ve ever owned, and it isn’t even particularly heavy.Only $82

This jacket is a bit more shimmery in real life but also quite nice – It was $47

This is probably my most worn and loved recent ASOS buy. Not warm but a good throw over coat that surprisingly goes with quite a lot. The pastel colour is really pretty and only $90

What have you bought from ASOS lately?

A belated hello!

13 May

My poor little neglected blog!!
I have had a few pretty horrible things happen recently which combined with a ridiculous amount of assesments due at uni have not been fun.
Don’t mean to brag but if you think your assignment schedule is bad my May due dates are : 10th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 23rd which is why this is relevant…

On another much more somber note a schoolfriend of mine, Luke, was killed in Brookvale while waiting for a bus by a man who was possible schizophrenic, but has sine been found and charged with murder.
It’s amazing to see friends bond together over such a horrible loss, but truly it can’t be said enough that he was the last person you would expect it to happen to, and could not of deserved it any less.
He had unfortunately lost his Mum just over a year ago, leaving his brother and Dad to pick up the pieces. They have been incredible during this time and stronger than I could imagine. Instead of flowers they asked people to donate to either the Homicide Victims Support Group, or a group to help those with Schizophrenia.

They also need our support however at this time, and a great guy Matthew has decided to raise money through his 100km walk through the blue mountains to support his family.
If you would be so inclined you can donate here and show your support for them during this difficult time.

They truly appreciate anything that anybody is willing to give.

Thanks for reading, and sorry to bring down the mood! Some more cheerful posts will be coming your way soon.. once these silly assignments are over.

Chikii Natural Mineral Blush..?

I think that is what it is.. however it is a really tiny size and super super glittery so maybe it is an eyeshadow? I don’t think you can see just how glittery it is from the photo. I’d love it if someone could let me know what I should do with it..! I would say the amount in this is only 1-2 gms max I’ve seen a couple of other pictures where the sachets look fuller so who knows!
RRP – It’s a mystery…

AdobePhotoshopExpress_20120420173839

Haf Mineral Makeup Eyeshadow

This is a pure mineral eyeshadow.. in Sunrise. I LOVE getting make up samples but this is a colour I would never ever wear i would describe it as a glittery sunflower colour. SO yellow!

Avado Organic Gel Exfoliant

I’m yet to try this but it was a saving grace of this box for me, I need a new exfoliant so it saves me having to purchase one and I will most certainly make use of it! Lets hope it’s good!

RRP $14.99

I am a little disappointed with this box, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it.. The two glittery makeup products i’m quite unlikely to use and it was missing the lipstick! I did love lasts months though and it is good to have a focus a bit more on makeup products in these sample boxes.
What did you think of this months I love this box? They are also the first sample box to increase their price from the standard 14.95 to 19.95 as of next month for new subscribers.

One designer collaboration I would love to get my paws on!

20 Mar

Ok so you may consider me a sucker for collaborations, but this one is truly cute and for a very good cause.

Luisa Via Roma have partnered with Steiff and unicef to bring about “Pug Dogs for Happy Kids” which benefits the children of Bangladesh.

21 Pugs have been designed by some of the best in the business and they are BEYOND adorable.

My favourites are:

By Mary Katrantzou

by Viktor and Rolf

by Giambattista Valli

by Balmain

These little guys are released a few at a time and are one of a kind (see the rest of them here) so you can bid on them on Ebay but with 6 days to go the Balmain Pup is close to $700 US dollars so I might need to give these little guys a miss..!

If you are pug obsessed, Luisa Via Roma also has a limited edition bag whose proceeds also go to Unicef

You can buy the bag here for around $199 AUD .

Which pug is your favourite? If I had to pick one that I think it would be Mary K’s because it is so unique!
