Lyst… a new online love affair

31 Aug

I don’t know how us mere mortals are supposed to keep up with everything going on – the shopping/fashion/beauty app explosion is not looking like it will be slowing down soon! While I have used quite a number of these new additions to the online world; svpply, fashion kaleidoscope, the fancy, fashism, lifestyle mirror and believe me there are more, one that has truly stood out for me is Lyst. A fashion aggregator that has one big factor that differentiates it from all the others – sale & stock information in real time.

You can follow other users, brands and designers and add items that stand out to you onto your “lyst”. All items have online stockists, price and availability listed beside them but as I mentioned, it can also alert you to when these items go on sale.  And you then get a nice little email like this:

Currently I’ve been using it for ASOS items that I’ve loved, but as they seem to do heavy reductions sometimes I like to wait! It’s also good for those pie in the sky items that you would love to afford but probably can’t, unless a good sale comes along (there are soo many +$1,000 dresses on my feed!) . Most items will also have information about the sizes that are in stock as well, meaning you can do almost every bit of your shopping (bar the actual purchase) from right inside Lyst.

There are similar features to Pinterest (these accounts can be easily linked) which is that you can create your own “collections”

All in all it really is a fun, more shoppable version of Pinterest. If you’re easily tempted like me, you’re going to want to look at it with your credit card safely hidden away somewhere..!

What new online sites/apps have you been loving recently? Are you on Lyst – i’d love to follow you! You can find mine here

Is the price of Beauty in Australia coming down?

27 Aug

A little while ago I wrote about Illamasqua’s “Fight for a fair beauty price”  which is the brand’s campaign to stop the disproportionally high prices Australian consumers pay for their beauty products in comparison to the rest of the world. This push is definetely justified, however this year alone a number of brands have reduced their prices to bring them in line (almost) with their international counterparts.

The latest to do this was Lancome – their “Love Lancome, Love our new prices” campaign see’s some of their best selling items reduced permanently by up to 30%. Currently these reductions are only on their Genifique, Renergie & Visionnaire products.

My pick would be the Genifique Serum 30ml – Down from $115 to $80.

Estee Lauder also recently reduced their prices on some of their foundations – all doublewear products were $68 will now be $50. The Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator has also been reduced from $105 to $80 (30ml)

Earlier this year, Mecca Cosmetica reduced a number of their brands Australian prices, most notably NARS.

Their blushes were reduced by 27% from $62 to $45. Sheer blow foundation was reduced from $99 to $68, with their illuminators, multiples, bronzers and eyeshadow duos also being reduced in price.

Other Mecca Cosmetica brands that saw reductions this year include Stila – with lip glazes reduced from $48 to $36 as well as their smudge pots which are now $32 instead of $43. Kevyn Aucoin Mascara (was $52 now $40), Perricone MD, By Terry, Nude and Dr Dennih Gross Skincare were also reduced.

Which brands do you want to see reduce their prices? I’m excited about Estee Lauder & Lancome getting on board – hoping this is a sign that we will see many more price reductions in the future!

Fun & Flirty, August Lust Have It!

21 Aug

After bella box last week, my Lust Have It box came in the mail today! They are celebrating their first birthday, with annual members getting an extra little surprise in this box (not me as I missed the very first month!). It did come a little bit later in the month than usual, however Lust Have It have grown so fast it’s understandable there is a couple of little teething problems!

The first thing you will notice is the different packaging. It’s like a present! It’s back in the theme of their originally packaging, rather than the makeup bags with is nice for a change. I think I have four of those bags now so running out of things to do with them!

And what is inside..

Dot by Marc Jacobs EDP

I LOVE Marc Jacobs fragrances, and with this one not in stores yet it’s great to be able to try it out early! It’s quite different to the Daisy Scents, still with a hint of floral it’s strongest fragrance is of Red Berries, followed by Jasmine. This will make a really great spring perfume!

RRP $160 for 100ml

Appelles Products

This looks a lot like a little trio of products you would get after staying at a hotel. I have never seen their stand alone stores before but apparently they are opening a few more stores soon.

Included from this brand is the Skin Detox Shower gel which has a very strong berry scent, the Body Booster Skin Lotion & the Vegetable Bar Soap.

RRP Shower Gel & Lotion $12.95 100ml Soap $4.95 4og

Tigi Rockaholic – Rock Out Shine Blaster

This product can help reduce hair drying time and leave you with silky shiny tresses. Can be applied to either damp or dry hair.

RRP $27.95 100ml

tanGo Tan Removal Cloth

Probably not quite so useful for me as I very rarely use fake tan, but an interested product I would love to know how well it works! It’s similar to a microfibre cloth & is said to evenly remove self tanner. Luckily it can be doubled as a make up remover if you just add water so I’ll probably be more likely to give that a go!

RRP 21.95 (inside card says 29.95 but that is for the glove not the cloth)

ModelCo Eyeliner

Now, don’t get me wrong I actually love ModelCo products, their latest Mascara has been pretty good but I have used this eyeliner before and it’s a little unimpressive. I am sure quite a few LHI members have also received it, I think it was a bonus If you signed up to their facebook site or something? Mine broke straight away, but I have been able to use the sharpener for other pencils!

RRP 26.00

So what did you think of this months Lust Have It Box?? There have been others I’ve preferred more than this, but I still think this box gives you a good assortment of products to test out.

Bella Box August.. Go Green!

17 Aug

So it’s beauty sample box time again! Bella Box arrived in my mail thismorning and let me say, they have delivered the goods! The theme of this month’s box is “Go Green” highlighting a shift towards the natural approach for skincare and beauty. I was recently just talking about how I’m enjoying natural products more and more so there are some great ones I’m looking forward to try!

So what’s in the box…?

Lush Ro’s Argon Body Conditioner

I’ve been impatient and had seen a few others post about their boxes and was hoping I’d still get this product! It smells fabulous and I am a pretty big fan of Lush products!

Make sure you use this the right way though! Michaela from Lather Rinse Repeat did a post about it here – you use while IN the shower – just step out of the stream of water & massage into skin – then rinse off!

RRP $29.95 for 225g

Luk Beautifood Lip Nourish

I love the packaging of this lipgloss! It’s a brand new product and is 100% natural & edible. It has a vanilla smell about it and has a brown shimmery tinge when applied.

RRP $24.95

Wotnot Facial Wipes

Made entirely of natural fibres and enriched with aloe vera, almond and rosehip oil these feel pretty amazing on the skin, they also seem thicker than your average facial wipe as well.

RRP $7.95

USPA Wheatgrass Solar Energy Leave-In Serum

A leave in serum which preserves & protects colour treated hair. I’m a little bit confused as to what the “solar energy” in the name refers to but this also smells amazing, with green tea, Jojoba Oil, Grapefruit, Tangerine and other goodies inside!

RRP $32 for 150 ml

Be in Awe Clearing Serum

This product is to help prevent breakouts due to oily skin conditions. I will probably pass this on to someone else as my skin is ridiculously dry but I’ll give it a go, I’ve heard good things about their products

RRP $79 for 50ml

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

Probably not the most exciting product in the box, they recently did a huge household send out of these samples so I have used one of them previously. It’s a good everyday body moisturiser.

RRP $12.99 for 350ml

Sachets:

Be in Awe Calming Serum This is to relax this skin after trauma such as peels, microdermabrasion, sun exposure or for red or itchy skin. It contains a number of natural anti-inflammatories. There were two sachets of this included in this months box and this product is probably more suited to my skin than the clearing serum so I’m looking forward to testing it out! RRP $79 for 50ml

Phytocare Daily C For some internal wellbeing! Mix a sachet with juice or water RRP 17.80 (30 sachets)

EmerginC Phytocell Detox Mask I’ve tried this before so I’m pretty happy to see it again as it is an amazing face mask. Leaves skin clear and feeling beyond amazing. RRP $70 for 50ml

Overall, for me this was a pretty good box! I know some people will likely be disappointed due to the lack of makeup in this variation of the box – a few earlier had an eyeliner as well but I’d received that last month so it works out perfectly!

What did you think of this months Bella Box? And did you get the same as me?
