Lyst… a new online love affair

31 Aug

I don’t know how us mere mortals are supposed to keep up with everything going on – the shopping/fashion/beauty app explosion is not looking like it will be slowing down soon! While I have used quite a number of these new additions to the online world; svpply, fashion kaleidoscope, the fancy, fashism, lifestyle mirror and believe me there are more, one that has truly stood out for me is Lyst. A fashion aggregator that has one big factor that differentiates it from all the others – sale & stock information in real time.

You can follow other users, brands and designers and add items that stand out to you onto your “lyst”. All items have online stockists, price and availability listed beside them but as I mentioned, it can also alert you to when these items go on sale.  And you then get a nice little email like this:

Currently I’ve been using it for ASOS items that I’ve loved, but as they seem to do heavy reductions sometimes I like to wait! It’s also good for those pie in the sky items that you would love to afford but probably can’t, unless a good sale comes along (there are soo many +$1,000 dresses on my feed!) . Most items will also have information about the sizes that are in stock as well, meaning you can do almost every bit of your shopping (bar the actual purchase) from right inside Lyst.

There are similar features to Pinterest (these accounts can be easily linked) which is that you can create your own “collections”

All in all it really is a fun, more shoppable version of Pinterest. If you’re easily tempted like me, you’re going to want to look at it with your credit card safely hidden away somewhere..!

What new online sites/apps have you been loving recently? Are you on Lyst – i’d love to follow you! You can find mine here

Do you want to be left alone? Service as you like it with Clinique

9 Jul

I was reading a story recently on The Cut about Clinique’s new “open shopping” method that is being introduced in the US and rolled out internationally in a new bid to attract shoppers to buy their products in department stores.

We all shop differently, but I know 80% of the time I’m visiting makeup counters I just want to have a little browse and will ask questions if there is something I’d like to know. It is so rare that I’ll want to sit down with a salesperson or have them take me through things because generally I’m just not in the mood!

With Clinique’s new initiative they promise that if you are carrying one of their shopping baskets they won’t bother you, and different products and shades are out on display and not hidden in drawers so you can simply pick your shade and go (MAC may need to take note of this one!)

While I love the service makeup counters can provide I think this is a great way to reduce hassle when you just want to grab your product & go. They will also be prominently displaying prices (can they all do that??) and plenty of disposable applicators and samples on hand in case you want to try a product.

To me this sounds PERFECT and hopefully will be something adapted more widely within department stores.

Will this make you more likely to shop at a counter? Or do you like the one on one experience?

My newest online shopping addiction.. The Iconic

28 Jun

So I may have a little bit of a shopping addiction as it is.. and this little addition to the online shopping scene is certainly not going to help that!

We’ve probably all heard of it, there have been ads all over the TV and i swear half the websites I visit have advertising for it. To be honest, if anything this possibly made me less likely to shop there, not entirely sure why but sometime when something is EVERYWHERE it seems a little bit less special. What tipped me over the edge to give it a go was the recent Vogue Online shopping night & the offer the Iconic had on for the night. Spend over $50 and get $25 off!

Here is what I added to cart…

Betts “Oaks” Boots RRP 89.99 reduced to $43.95

Lushous Scarf RRP $29.95 reduced to $13.95

Now I’m normally not a fan of buying shoes online (luckily these did fit) however the Iconic offers FREE returns, they actually pay you the cost of shipping them back. And they have FREE shipping, and this isn’t even the best part!

I placed my order at about 5.30pm and it was at my door around 8am the next morning! That is ridiculously quick shipping considering it’s free, I was so shocked to see it there in the morning!

I ended up getting both these items for $32 with the Iconics special vogue offer which is what you’d normally pay for a scarf! They have a fantastic sale on at the moment and a huge amount of shoes, clothing and other goodies.

They stock some great brands including Tony Bianco, Mollini, Ben Sherman, Cheap Monday, Sass & Bide and so many more!!

Head over there and check it out..!
