Getting the perfect dose… with Clearasil’s Perfecta Wash

1 Aug

I went to the Beauty Directory offices a few weeks ago to learn a little bit more about Clearasil’s latest offering – A face wash in a sensor activated dispenser that delivers the perfect dose for getting the maximum benefits out of Clearasil’s targeted ingredients.

The dispenser delivers exactly 1.5ml of wash, so each refill gives you 100 doses. It comes in two distinct formulas, the Super Fruit Extract formula and the Soothing Plant Extract formula.

The Super Fruit Extract contains raspberry and cranberry extracts and smell absolutely amazing and also contains Vitamin E to stop skin drying out. The main reason the perfect dose is important is for that exact reason, if you use too much of a product the active ingredients can work incorrectly and lead to overdried skin – or if you don’t use enough you’re unlikely to notice the proper benefits.

The second formulation is the Soothing Plant Extract which I’ve been using the most as it is better suited to my dryer skin, especially during winter. The plant extracts help to reduce redness while the active ingredient of Salicylic Acid works to reduce break outs.

It’s pretty fun to play with – but be warned, the sensor can be pretty sensitive and I left it on while my brother was shaving which both freaked him out and created a whole heap of mess. If you don’t share a bathroom you should be right but just be aware if you leave it on!

This is 1.5mls of the clearasil product

Since using this, I’ve been far more aware of the amount I use of other products and I think I’ve probably been using far too much in the past. It’s pretty interesting as it’s something I never really noticed before – and if everything could be in handy packs like this I wouldn’t have to!

This is targeted mostly at inbetween skin, so If you don’t identify with having teenage skin and dealing with constant breakouts – but aren’t old enough to worry about anti-aging properties this is for you. I personally think though this would be a great starter product for younger girls who are just starting to take care of their skin because it makes the process a bit more fun!

Clearasils Perfecta Wash is avaliable in some retailers now, but all stockists should have it by the 1st September. It retails at just 19.95 for the starter pack (dispenser and one refill) Extra refills are just 11.99.

Do you think you’re using the right doses of your current products?

My Hair Transformation….!

29 Jul

So regular readers would know that a little while ago I asked for your opinions on getting my hair pretty drastically changed to red! Thanks for all your lovely comments, they helped me decide to just go for the change! So on Wednesday I took my first day of work in what seems like forever and relaxed in the capable hands of my favourite hairdresser Jaye Edwards @ Edwards and Co (Previously called Torquill Murray). And here’s how it went.

This is how we started. My poor little strands have been dyed over and over again with Semi-Permanent dye for the best part of the last 7 years. I never really had a problem with the colour but it always seemed to look a bit dull, and after that long it was time for a change.

Edwards & Co  is located in Surry Hills, on Riley street, and it’s not a bad little spot to relax for the next.. four hours!

Jaye makes an appearance in that last photo, he is the one in the apron at the computer. All the little touches in Edwards & Co make it even more relaxing, there is hundreds of amazing magazines to read as well as delicious biscuits & teas.

Now, before I show you the end result – a little bit more about this amazing hairdresser of mine. Jaye is quite young but has been in the business for over 7 years, he has some amazing clients one of which is the stunning Lara Bingle! Like her or loathe her you have to admit, she has got some amazing blonde locks!

Jaye uses Evo products on all his clients, which is fantastic as I have recently fallen in love with these also. My favourite is the therapist Shampoo & Conditioner but they have a great range of products for everybody.

On top of their great products, evo recently sponsored a street university event in which Jaye gave free haircuts to those who couldn’t afford it to give them an edge in finding jobs and helping them find their feet.

Some photos from the Street Uni event, the evo products & the team! It’s great to see a fantastic brand supporting a great cause. All of their products are sulphate, paraben and propylene glycol free and are also not tested on animals, they are also all colour safe.

But now.. the end result..

TADA!!!

I couldn’t be happier with the result! I went in with dull browny red hair and came out with this dynamic colour, which I quite honestly would of let no one other than Jaye do because It was such a huge change!

So what do you think???!

I cannot recommend Jaye highly enough and you can check out his website here, as well as his twitter, facebook or follow him on instagram! The salon is at 1/255 Riley Street, Surry Hills. As it’s in the middle of a name change the signage may still say Torquil Murray – but you’re in the right place!

Bella Box July… Essential Beauty Buys

21 Jul

First thing Friday I received my July Bella Box in the mail, I felt like i’d been waiting for ever because it was one of the last shipped!! It was however, most definitely worth the wait- with 6 full sized products!

So what was in the box..

Neutrogena Deep Clean Foaming Cleanser & Sample Gentle Scrub

This foaming cleanser is incredibly refreshing, with a tingly cool boost! It’s a pretty good morning wake-me-up! The scrub is also great especially if you have dry or sensitive skin as it is very gentle.

Cleanser RRP $13.99

Mode Glitter Nail Enamel

Perfect for a little bit of sparkle on the nails, I remember using mode products years ago when I think they were sold in Kmart? The colour is great but as usual a pain to get off! I had a bit of a play with it over my L’oreal polish

The RRP for this baby is just $2.45 so you can afford to snatch up a few!

Bourjois Smoky Eye Pencil in Dark Purple

Certainly not a colour I would normally pick but it’s been great to try out as I haven’t used many Bourjois products in the past. It is a very dark purple so I think it would look great if you want a vibrant make-up look. I’m not sure how “Smoky” the effect of this could be however, as when I swatched it and used the applicator it didn’t budge too much.

RRP $20

Carmex Moisturing Lip Balm

Perfect timing as the lipbalm I normally keep in my bag had just run out! Carmex is a classic brand and for anyone who hasn’t tried it, I think you’ll love it!

RRP $5.99

Almay Get Up & Grow Mascara

Another brand I haven’t tried much before, this is a black/brown mascara that promises to strengthen and lengthen lashes! I’ll have to report back once i’ve given it a bit of a test.

RRP $19.95

You, Me & Everybody Shady Lady Daily Face Milk

This is something I’m going to try really hard to fit into my daily routine, I love primer but it doesn’t normally contain and SPF rating so this face milk will be great to apply in summer before makeup! It’s also a brand I haven’t heard of before and I love it’s packaging so lets see how we go!

RRP $9.99

The body Shop Chocomania Body Butter & Givenchy Pi Neo Samples

This Body Butter reminds me that I haven’t eaten chocolate in almost two weeks.. It smells define and is nourishing and pretty much everything you expect for a Body Shop Body Butter, they have just always seemed to do them so well! They also included a little sample for the man in your live with this Givenchy scent.

SO MUCH in this months box with the full size product value over $70 and a tonne of fun new things to try. Bella Box has definitely raised the bar!! Can’t wait for next months!
