A belated hello!

13 May

My poor little neglected blog!!
I have had a few pretty horrible things happen recently which combined with a ridiculous amount of assesments due at uni have not been fun.
Don’t mean to brag but if you think your assignment schedule is bad my May due dates are : 10th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 23rd which is why this is relevant…

On another much more somber note a schoolfriend of mine, Luke, was killed in Brookvale while waiting for a bus by a man who was possible schizophrenic, but has sine been found and charged with murder.
It’s amazing to see friends bond together over such a horrible loss, but truly it can’t be said enough that he was the last person you would expect it to happen to, and could not of deserved it any less.
He had unfortunately lost his Mum just over a year ago, leaving his brother and Dad to pick up the pieces. They have been incredible during this time and stronger than I could imagine. Instead of flowers they asked people to donate to either the Homicide Victims Support Group, or a group to help those with Schizophrenia.

They also need our support however at this time, and a great guy Matthew has decided to raise money through his 100km walk through the blue mountains to support his family.
If you would be so inclined you can donate here and show your support for them during this difficult time.

They truly appreciate anything that anybody is willing to give.

Thanks for reading, and sorry to bring down the mood! Some more cheerful posts will be coming your way soon.. once these silly assignments are over.

One designer collaboration I would love to get my paws on!

20 Mar

Ok so you may consider me a sucker for collaborations, but this one is truly cute and for a very good cause.

Luisa Via Roma have partnered with Steiff and unicef to bring about “Pug Dogs for Happy Kids” which benefits the children of Bangladesh.

21 Pugs have been designed by some of the best in the business and they are BEYOND adorable.

My favourites are:

By Mary Katrantzou

by Viktor and Rolf

by Giambattista Valli

by Balmain

These little guys are released a few at a time and are one of a kind (see the rest of them here) so you can bid on them on Ebay but with 6 days to go the Balmain Pup is close to $700 US dollars so I might need to give these little guys a miss..!

If you are pug obsessed, Luisa Via Roma also has a limited edition bag whose proceeds also go to Unicef

You can buy the bag here for around $199 AUD .

Which pug is your favourite? If I had to pick one that I think it would be Mary K’s because it is so unique!

Words of Wisdom

16 Feb

I’ve always been interested in industry leaders, and their stories of getting to the top as well as their tips for those who wish to get there.

In the Women’s Wear Daily “Beauty Inc” publication (Which I highly recommend for all you beauty lovers, Subscription is on the expensive side but some Universities have access to it if your a student) there was an article called “Rare Air” which had various CEO tips on success. I thought I’d share my favourites..

“Always strive to ‘unlearn’ what you already know; challenge yourself to think differently, adapt to new circumstances, lead with a fresh set of eyes. Be eternally curious, listen and never settle.”

MAUREEN CHIQUET
Global chief executive officer, Chanel

“Take on the tough assignments, seek out responsibilities and execute even the smallest, most mundane assignment with excellence. Be dependable, show up, deliver on your commitments. Most of the success in business is not driven from grand strategy but daily excellence in execution.”

E. SCOTT BEATTIE

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Arden

Be ready when opportunities present themselves. Throw yourself into your career with passion…embrace the challenges presented to you; ask the question that everyone is afraid to ask; stand up to the person who thinks they are always right; be bold and be comfortable being wrong. Most importantly, stay true to yourself, keeping your two feet planted firmly on the ground. And remember that life does not owe you a living; you have to actively live your life.”

ALAN ENNIS

President and Chief Executive Officer, Revlon

“Take risks. If you are offered an opportunity and it doesn’t scare you, it’s not worth considering. Surround yourself with the best people—and do whatever it takes to keep them. Build a team based on mutual trust and respect. Leave the politics to Washington.”

PAMELA BAXTER

President and Chief Executive Officer, Christian Dior Inc. and LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics North America

Karl and Kittens..

17 Jan

Soo anyone that reads my blog knows that I love Karl, but if you follow me on twitter you may also know that I love kittens! And possibly even had a chance to see my own little Aslan, but if not don’t worry – you’re in luck.

These are my two little boys, my kitten Aslan and the old man my dog Duke.

It was recently brought to my attention that Karl has fallen in love with a kitten…

awwww… isn’t she cute!!

Her name is Choupette and one, I want her. Two, I want that room and those flowers.

I can’t wait to see more pictures of this little girl, too adorable for words. The fact that both Karl and I have kittens also brings us closer together, we have a pretty special bond you know.

So who else wants her? OR can we play my kitten is cuter than Choupette…?
